Editor Elect Announced

In a unanimous vote by both boards, the senior board members for Research & Practice in Assessment and the Virginia Assessment Group have confirmed the appointment of Dr. Katie Busby as Editor Elect.  Next year, Dr. Busby will become the fourth editor of RPA, succeeding Joshua Brown, whose four year term expires in 2014.  Dr. Busby’s biographical information is included below for those who wish to learn more about her research interests and professional experience.

Biographical Information:
Katie Busby is the Assistant Provost for Assessment and Institutional Research at Tulane University. She provides leadership, vision, and direction for the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research (OAIR) and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing campus-wide assessment and accreditation activities. Prior to joining Tulane in Spring 2009, Dr. Busby served as the Director of Student Affairs Assessment and Planning at The University of Alabama, and held a similar position at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). She spent five years as a member of the mathematics faculty at Baylor University and four years as a student affairs practitioner at James Madison University. Her research interests include measures of student development and leadership, instrument development, and validity issues. She holds a B.S. and M.S. in mathematics from University of Mississippi and earned her Ph.D. in Assessment and Measurement at James Madison University. She is associate editor of Research & Practice in Assessment, program chair for the Measurement and Assessment in Higher Education SIG of the American Educational Research Association, and is a past member of the ACPA Commission on Assessment and Evaluation Directorate.
